# Set up DMARC reports

DNS Autopilot needs your domain's DMARC aggregate reports. There are two ways to give it to them. Gmail connect is the fastest and needs no DNS change.

## Option 1: connect Gmail

1. Sign in at https://dnsautopilot.com/login with Google.
2. Open Setup in the dashboard and choose Connect Gmail.
3. Approve read-only access. DNS Autopilot searches only for DMARC report emails. https://dnsautopilot.com/docs/gmail lists exactly what is read.
4. Your reports import in the background and your domains appear within minutes.

Gmail connect is on Pro, Agency, and the 14-day Pro trial until Google verifies the app.

## Option 2: use your report address

Every account has a report address like `YOUR-TOKEN@rua.dnsautopilot.com`. Find it in Setup. Add it to the `rua` tag of your DMARC record, a TXT record at `_dmarc.yourdomain.com`:

```
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:YOUR-TOKEN@rua.dnsautopilot.com
```

If you already have a DMARC record, keep it and add the address to `rua`, separated from other addresses by a comma. Reports start arriving within a day or two, as each provider sends once a day.

- Google Domains and Squarespace Domains: Open the domain, choose DNS, then Custom records. Edit the TXT record whose host is _dmarc, or add one.
- Cloudflare: Open the domain, choose DNS, then Records. Edit the TXT record named _dmarc, or choose Add record with type TXT and name _dmarc.
- GoDaddy: Open the domain's DNS page. Edit the TXT record with the name _dmarc, or choose Add New Record, type TXT, name _dmarc.
- Namecheap: Open Domain List, then Manage, then Advanced DNS. Edit the TXT record with host _dmarc, or add one with host _dmarc.
- Amazon Route 53: Open the hosted zone and edit the TXT record named _dmarc.yourdomain.com, or create one. Put the whole value in double quotes.
- Microsoft 365 and other hosts: Find the DNS management page, then the TXT record with the host _dmarc (some hosts want _dmarc.yourdomain.com). Edit it or add one.

The first report for a new domain waits until the domain's DNS record lists your address, so nobody can add a domain they do not control.

When reports arrive, open a domain to see its senders, grade, and readiness for the next policy step. Check a domain's records for free at https://dnsautopilot.com/check.
